Anna
Job Title : Premium Banking Manager
How did you come to choose your present career?
I studied Geology & Geography at University and certainly did not have the intention of working in finance. I took a job with NatWest in Edinburgh as a Customer Advisor, and at the time did not really consider this a long term career. However, I enjoyed the sales role and working with people and soon saw a similar position advertised in Jersey, I transferred down in 2004. I have since progressed to my current role as a Premium Banking Manager under the RBS brand.
Describe your day to day role and what it involves?
Every day is different. I have certain control aspects of my role, including the Managers Daily Report, which we get out of the way in the morning. The rest of my day is taken up with speaking to clients on the telephone, and client meetings. I take the opportunity, particularly with more elderly clients, to visit them at their homes when possible.
I will also have paperwork to complete, credit reviews and mortgage/loan applications to deal with.
What do you like most about your current role?
The best part of my job by far is dealing with my clients day to day, there is never a dull moment! In this role you really get the opportunity to build relationships with the clients, whether it is speaking to them on the telephone, face to face or when we invite them along to golf days and social events.
What do you like most about working for RBS International?
There are a great deal of opportunities available through RBS International. The group have a good reputation and are highly regarded locally.
What will be the next step in your career?
Most likely another Relationship Management role, I would definitely like to remain in a client facing role whether with personal or corporate clients.
What training and support for development have you received or is available to you as an individual?
Further study for external qualifications such as Financial Planning Certificate and internal management development courses recently.
In your opinion, what one thing makes RBS International different from other employers?
I have only ever worked for the RBS Group, however I get the impression that amongst the high street banks, RBSI International offer the most generous package, and I know that they are one of the few who continue to pay profit share to their staff.
